I am (finally!) a full-time writer, having worked in my checkered past as a clerk-typist, research secretary, administrative assistant, academic editor, clinical social worker, adjunct English instructor, professional organizer, and professional violinist. I published three non-fiction books with St. Martin’s Press ; a memoir, MUSIC, LAKES & BLUE CORDUROY, with Thunder Bay Press in Michigan; and, most recently, a poetry collection, UNCLENCHING, with Finishing Line Press. My poetry and prose have appeared in various literary magazines, including Ploughshares, Connecticut River Review, Illuminations, Bear River Review, Pacific Coast Journal, Aries, The Chaffin Journal, Plainsong, and Barbaric Yawp.
I was born in Des Moines, Iowa on November 2, 1948 (the same day Truman beat Dewey), schooled at Interlochen Arts Academy, Oberlin College, and the University of Michigan, and have lived in Ann Arbor, Michigan since 1970—now with my husband, psychologist Ira Glovinsky and our two cats, Chloe and Sidney. I have a son, Matt Ferguson, grands Charlie and Ray Ferguson and a step, Marni Glovinsky. I like to read, write, sleep, and play the piano. Anything else you want to know?
